Lochlea
With Lochlea, the Scottish distillery landscape has recently gained an independent, family-run farm distillery. The unmistakable style of its single malt is shaped not least by former Laphroaig distillery manager John Campbell, now Lochlea's production director and master blender. As one of only four distilleries in Scotland, Lochlea uses only barley it grows itself, and distils and matures its whisky on site. This makes Lochlea single malt traceable from field to bottle, true to the distillery's motto, "Dare to be honest".
If you like your whisky powerful and opulent, Dark Briar is the right choice for you. Inspired by the seasonal Fallow Edition, this sumptuous single malt is matured in a combination of sherry and port casks, developing aromas of juicy red fruits, gingerbread and velvety baking spices.

For Smoke without Fire, Lochlea relies on ex-peated refill bourbon barrels and red wine casks, just like its role model, the former Ploughing Edition. It balances red fruit with floral sweetness and gentle campfire smoke, capturing the subtle complexity of the peat influence without masking the natural elegance of the spirit.

With the Lochlea Ploughing Edition (Second Crop), the small team sends up smoke signals for the second time. Unlike last year, this limited single malt from the "Seasonal Releases" range matured exclusively in ex-Islay casks holding just 200 litres each. At an ideal drinking strength, this Lowlander unfolds a profile that gets you in the mood for spring: with fresh fruit and typical cereal notes as well as sea salt, hay and gentle peat.
