Deanston
The distillery, whose name means "strong town", lies on the south bank of the River Teith not far from the small town of Doune. This means it only just belongs to the Highlands region. A cotton mill was first built here in 1784 and was only converted into a distillery with 4 stills in 1965/66. Deanston has also been available as a single malt since 1990 and is owned by a South American investment company.
The 12 years old Deanston is pure and elegant, without having any smokey flavours. It matured in a former Bourbon cask. There is only used biological wheat, which made the distillery get the certificate of the Organic Food Federation.
