Der Planteray Rum wird auf Barbados produziert. Er wird auf Basis von Zuckerrohrmelasse sowohl auf einer Column Still als auch auf einer Pot Still destilliert. Anschließend erfolgt eine Reifung für mehrere Jahre in Bourbonföässern im tropischen Klima der Insel. Anschließend wird der Rum in den Kellern der Maison Ferrand in Frankreich über mehrere Jahre in Ex-Cognac-Casks im kontinentalen Klima gereift, bevor er zu guter Letzt für ein mehrmonatiges Finish in Ex-Pedro-Ximénez-Casks gefüllt wird.
