North British 17 Years Thompson Bros - 48%

Product information "North British 17 Years Thompson Bros - 48%"

In the heart of the Lowlands, at the historic North British Distillery, the spirit was created and subsequently allowed to mature for over 17 years in selected sherry casks. Independent bottlers Thompson Bros of Dornoch carefully selected this cask to marry the characteristic lightness of the grain spirit with the intense structure derived from sherry maturation. The result is an authentic “Edinburgh Dram,” bottled without chill-filtration at a robust strength of 48% ABV.

The whisky’s rich amber hue hints at the aromatic depth awaiting the connoisseur. On the nose, notes of ripe plum and raisin unfold, accompanied by a delicate touch of orange and sweet honey. On the palate, the whisky is creamy and full-bodied; notes of dark chocolate and toffee meet a malty foundation. A subtle, spicy nuance rounds out the complex flavor profile before the long-lasting finish fades with hints of cocoa.

Bunnahabhain 12-Year-Old Thompson Bros. Madeira - 46.1%, Single Malt from Islay, Scotland
Bunnahabhain 12-Year-Old Thompson Bros. Madeira - 46.1%

The Bunnahabhain Distillery is located on the Sound of Islay, in the northeastern corner of the island, directly across from the island of Jura—so remote that when it was built in 1881, a long, winding road first had to be constructed down to the sea. The water used to make whiskey—which is relatively low in peat for Islay—comes from an underground spring, the Margadale River. Until 2003, it was owned by the descendants of the founders, Highland Distillers. The current owner is Burn Stewart Distillers.
