The Mannochmore Distillery was founded in 1971 by John Haig & Co. In 1985, the distillery was shut down for about four years, so Mannochmore has only been available as a single malt since 1992. A unique feature of the distillery is that it produces only in the winter. It is located on the same grounds as the Glenlossie Distillery and is also operated by its staff.

In their Cask Craft Collection, the independent bottlers at Murray McDavid focus on the careful refinement of raw distillates with strong character. For this edition, they selected a single malt from the Mannochmore distillery, which was finished in ex-Islay barriques and hogsheads. The result is a whiskey that displays its natural golden color without any added coloring and combines the typical maltiness of Speyside with distinctive maritime influences.
On the nose, a harmonious interplay of dry malt and a subtle hint of peat unfolds. On the palate, the structure of the 44.5% ABV comes through, precisely conveying aromas of green apples, vanilla, and dried seaweed. The finish remains true to its coastal character, ending with a subtle hint of salt and a long-lasting aftertaste of sweet smoke and red fruits.
