The Glenfiddich (Valley of the Fiddich or Hirschtal) is given a very special role in the historical consideration of single malt Scotch whisky. The Glenfiddich Grand Cru is the first single malt in the Grand series from Glenfiddich. It matured for 23 years in American and European oak barrels that previously contained sherry. The whisky was finished in French Cuvée barrels, which were used in the fermentation of wine that ultimately becomes Champagne. The whisky was bottled at 40%.
