The roots of Château du Breuil date back to the 16th century. Originally built as a manor house, part of the estate was converted into a distillery in 1954.
With a collection of vintage Calvados dating back to 1939, Drouin is the Calvados industry’s equivalent of Gordon & MacPhail. This apple brandy from Normandy is produced through double pot-still distillation of cider, or fermented apple must. At Drouin, this specialty—protected by a designation of origin—ages intensively in a selection of mostly smaller oak barrels. The house also experiments with finishes.
