About 200 years ago lived in Heiligenstedten a man named Paul Butterbrodt, who is still known a lot because of his impressive weight of 476 pounds and whose image can still be found in many taverns to emulate for the guests. By profession he was a beer brewer and brandy distiller and also ran cattle; in 1786, however, he was seen in Germany and also in France for money. He was 5 feet 10 inches French Measure (about 1.89m) tall and had 5 feet 8 inches French Measure (about 1.84m) in scope. As is usually the case with such people, he was extremely good-natured and liked to joke, so that some funny things are still being told about him.
