This 10-year-old Auchroisk is part of the “Flora & Fauna” series. The respective bottle label always shows a motif from the regional animal and plant world. By the way, the term Flora & Fauna is not an official designation and therefore not noted on the labels. The aroma is relatively citrus-fresh with a little mint. Herbs are also present. The taste is somewhat summery, with yellow fruits.

The distillery is located north of Port Askaig on the island of Islay, directly on the Sound of Islay. It was built in 1846 and has had a completely new stillhouse since 1974, expanded to six stills. The distillery, from which one has a wonderful view of the island of Jura, is now owned by Diageo. Caol Ila is a good example of a "working horse" that produces mainly for blends, in this case for Johnnie Walker.
