About forty wineries from the heart of Bas-Armagnac contribute to the exceptional collection of the Darroze house. The independent bottlers buy their distillates either using a mobile distiller, which traditionally makes its rounds after the harvest, or already in barrel storage. In the in-house cellars, these often rare, several generations old casks or brandies are perfected by small producers.

In the limited Borderline range, Darroze demonstrates the maturation expertise gained over 50 years with brandies finished in wine or spirit casks. This approach no longer allows this "Brandy Français" to be bottled as Armagnac, but it reveals new potential in the region. For the Borderline Brandy Français Pinot Noir Finish, five-year-old Armagnac was finished in French red wine casks. They gave it unexpected aromas of kirsch, blackcurrants, toast and smoke.

In the limited Borderline product range, Darroze demonstrates the expertise it has gained over 50 years of ageing using eaux-de-vie that are refined in wine or spirits barrels. Although this procedure no longer allows this ‘Brandy Français’ to be bottled as Armagnac, it does reveal the region’s new potential. This is demonstrated by the Borderline Brandy Français – Chardonnay Finish with a finesse-rich profile in which citrus peel, grapes and peach meet vanilla, caraway and nuts.
