Ardbeg Wee Beastie - 47,4%
The name of the Ardbeg distillery means "small height". It lies on the south coast of the whisky island of Islay, on the road from the small harbour town of Port Ellen to Kildalton. The site of the present distillery was already popular with illicit distillers. After a very eventful history with periodic closures, Ardbeg was taken over in 1997 by Glenmorangie PLC, which was in turn bought by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy in 2004. It is now one of the most famous distilleries in Scotland, known for its smoky, peaty and salty bottlings with strong phenolic notes. The distillery's water comes from Loch Arinambeast and Loch Uigeadail, after which two bottlings are also named. In 2015 Ardbeg celebrated its 200th birthday.
