Ardbeg Uigeadail - 54,2%

This 19-year-old expression was aged in American white oak barrels and then finished in Oloroso sherry casks. The result captivates with its classic elegance, which unfolds like a symphony—from its delicate texture to the burst of characteristic Ardbeg notes. Batch 6 does justice to the eponymous beach with its treacherous beauty.

Aged in sweet Sicilian Marsala Dolce casks as well as classic bourbon barrels, this exceptional Ardbeg combines intense smokiness with lush fruit sweetness and spicy depth. Bottled non-chill filtered and uncolored, this festival release, at 47.8% ABV, is as extravagant as it is full of character.

Ardbeg The Beithir’s Tale is a rare and elusive dram, named after a terrifying monster that once haunted the distillery’s shores. This bottling joins a series of exceptional whiskies matured in unique casks. An Ardbeg 15 Year Old, for the first time from specially crafted bourbon casks: They imbue the Islay whisky with luscious aromas of smoked butter and vanilla, rounded off by the classic Ardbeg notes of menthol and pine.”

The first bottling in the collection was aged for 13 years in rare Sauternes sweet wine casks and blended with classic Ardbeg ex-bourbon casks. Rising smoke blends into sweetness as Ardbeg’s distinctive character blends with the richness of the Sauternes casks.

“Experimentally produced using high-gravity mashing, this single malt takes us on a journey into new, undiscovered flavor realms. High-gravity mashing means less water and more malted barley in the mash starter. This higher original gravity results in fruitier and more intense aromas of cane sugar, ripe barley, and toasted sourdough bread. The whole thing culminates in flavors of tropical fruits and sweet peat. In short, every drop of wort has been squeezed out of this Ardbeg.”

Inspired by Traigh Bhan beach on Islay, known for its singing sands, this final release reflects the contrasts of nature: intense smoky aromas of coal dust and mild eucalyptus and peppermint notes, before warm spices and citrus fruit make their way through.

The Smoketrails series is a series for travel retail. The first bottling matured partly in bourbon and partly in Manzanilla sherry casks and was bottled in a liter bottle at 46%.

Two bottlings are named like the lakes the water of the distillery comes from: Loch Arinambeast and Loch Uigeadail. In 2015 Ardbeg celebrated its bicentenary.

Even after 25 years of maturation, this whisky is still characterised by its Islay-typical flavours, but brings much more complexity. Nose: Classic smoke in the background, spice, but also fruitiness in the form of bananas and tropical fruits. Furthermore, pine resin, fennel oil, smoked cream and mint can be detected. Taste: Typical medicinal character accompanied by complex aromas of toffee, anise, chilli pepper, candied apples, pears and oranges. At first, it appears peppery-spicy, but then transitions to sweet creaminess. Finish: A pleasant length in combination with medicinal notes including creamy caramel are in the foreground here.
