The Jura Distillery, located on the wild and romantic island of the same name—which has only one road and one pub—has been cultivating its very own whiskey tradition since 1810. For this Cask Edition, the single malt was first aged in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels before undergoing a finishing process in hand-selected red wine casks. This specific secondary aging in red wine casks lends the island whiskey additional complexity and combines the classic vanilla sweetness of bourbon aging with the deep fruitiness of European vineyards.
In the glass, the whiskey displays a deep mahogany-gold color that visually highlights the influence of the wine casks. The bouquet reveals intense aromas of dark wild berries, accompanied by a subtle hint of milk chocolate. On the palate, complex nuances of raspberries and strawberries unfold, harmonizing beautifully with a gentle hint of vanilla and giving way to a long finish with a subtle trace of cinnamon.
