Glentauchers (Valley of the Wind) was founded in 1898 by James Buchanan in Mulben, near Keith, and is one of the Speyside distilleries. Its whisky is highly regarded by many experts, but has only become more widely available in independent bottlings in recent years.

Founded in 1897, the Glentauchers Distillery is considered a classic example of Speyside, whose single malts are prized for their floral elegance. For this exclusive bottling from the Mission Gold series, independent bottler Murray McDavid chose a sophisticated maturation process: After many years of primary aging in bourbon hogsheads, the whisky received a complex finish in first-fill Rivesaltes and Madeira casks. This combination of the French sweet wine tradition and the Portuguese fortified wine culture lends the 25-year-old malt a remarkable structure and its characteristic, amber-colored splendor.
On the nose, a multi-layered panorama unfolds, where ripe raspberries and cherries meet the aromatic dryness of cedarwood and delicate orange blossoms. On the palate, this single malt presents an elegant, almost creamy malt note, accompanied by seductive rose pralines and a hint of dark, fine-bitter chocolate. The influences of the wine casks are perfectly integrated and lead to an intense finish characterized by subtle oak spice and the aroma of toasted nuts.
