Product information "Glenglassaugh 15 Years - 46%"
In the heart of the Highlands, right on the rugged shores of Portsoy, a single malt with an unmistakable profile has been made since 1875. Shaped by mineral-rich spring water and maturation in the salty North Sea air, this whisky develops a special character under the guidance of Master Blender Rachel Barrie. It spends its 15 years of maturation in a carefully curated combination of Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and Spanish wine casks, which gives it exceptional depth and complexity.
In the glass, this coastal malt shows the colour of a warm, copper sunset. The nose is caressed by seductive hints of chocolate sauce and salted caramel, balanced by zesty Spanish oranges and dark manuka honey. The palate unfolds a texture of oily syrup and caramelised dates that meets tropical notes of papaya, set in an aroma of dark chocolate and fine coffee.
This full-bodied, sweet single malt is a recommendation for connoisseurs who appreciate the interplay of maritime spice and opulent fruitiness. It shows its full splendour best neat at room temperature, while a drop of water can reveal further nuances of the Spanish wine cask maturation. The elegant bottle design with its cream and gold accents underlines the craftsmanship and makes this whisky a tasteful centrepiece in any collection.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Dark honey and salted caramel merge with the fruity character of ripe oranges. Oily date notes and a touch of chocolate lend the bouquet a noble depth.
Palate: Mouth-filling syrup and caramelised dates meet the lively freshness of citrus fruit. A liaison of chocolate and coffee creates a dense, complex structure on the palate.
Finish: The finish presents an elegant balance of chocolatey sweetness and roasted coffee nuances. A long, subtly dry aftertaste rounds off the maritime profile.
