Ardnamurchan Sherry Cask Release 2025 - 50,0%

Product information "Ardnamurchan Sherry Cask Release 2025 - 50,0%"

Ardnamurchan is a distillery in the western highlands, which has a partly very complex history.
It was founded and operated in Glasgow in 1826 by Charles and David Gray. After years of ups and downs, the distillery was finally closed and dismantled in 1968.

The story of today's distillery begins in 1993 with the descendants of the previous founders, who decided to become an independent bottler under the Adelphi label. In 2007 they decided to reopen the distillery, only this time it should be in the western Highlands. Single malt has been pouring out of their stills since 2014 and more and more bottlings are seeing the light of day.

Ardnamurchan "The Midgie" - 48%
Ardnamurchan "The Midgie" - 48%

If there is such a thing as a summer whisky, this is it! From now on, AD/The Midgie belongs to summer just like the midges it is named after. As soon as you step outside on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, there is no escaping them. The recipe for the AD/The Midgie bottling is made up of 50% bourbon casks, 48% port casks and 2% sherry casks, from 75% unpeated and 25% peated casks overall. So it is lightly peated and bottled at a solid 48%vol.: a fruity, floral mix of sweet and salty with a hint of smoke and a solid, dry finish.

Tasting notes: Nose: coconut and oat biscuits, zesty orange peel, salt and sun-kissed boat deck, autumnal leaves on the bonfire. Strawberry lace and wine gums, fresh mint. Palate: mouth coating, custard creams, vanilla wafer, brine, porridge oats, earthy smoke. Finish: lingering smoke, maritime and warming.
