AD/The Midgie is now as much a part of summer as the mosquitoes that give it its name. As soon as you step outside the door on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, you can no longer avoid them.

The recipe for the AD/The Midgie bottling is made up of 50% bourbon casks, 48% port casks and 2% sherry casks - 75% unpeated and 25% peated casks - so slightly smoky and bottled at a solid 48% vol. - a fruity-floral blend of sweet and salty with a hint of smoke and a solid, dry finish.

]]> Ardnamurchan is a distillery in the western highlands, which has a partly very complex history.
It was founded and operated in Glasgow in 1826 by Charles and David Gray. After years of ups and downs, the distillery was finally closed and dismantled in 1968.

The story of today’s distillery begins in 1993 with the descendants of the previous founders, who decided to become an independent bottler under the Adelphi label. In 2007 they decided to reopen the distillery, only this time it should be in the western Highlands. Single malt has been pouring out of their stills since 2014 and more and more bottlings are seeing the light of day.

]]> On the shores of the Indian Ocean, at the foot of the Piton de la Fournaise volcano, the Savanna distillery is at home. Rum has been produced by hand here in the French overseas department and sugar cane paradise of La Réunion since the 19th century. However, the distillery and its exquisite bottlings as we know them today go back to Émile Hugot. Internationally known as “Monsieur Sucre”, he led Savanna into the future from the 1950s onwards with extensive expertise in the field of sugar.

At the heart of Savanna is high quality Rhum Agricole, Rhum traditionnel and Grand Arôme Rum, which the distillery is one of the few in the world to produce. The full-bodied molasses rum ferments extensively and develops a high ester content, similar to typical Jamaican rums. Unusually for distilleries in the French overseas departments, Savanna processes both fresh sugar cane juice and molasses in column and pot still – and only between July and November.

Tasting Notes
Aroma: Notes of leather-bound books, bung cloth and dunnage warehouses are followed by sweeter characteristics of treacle, caramel and bramble.

Taste: On the palate there are notes of marshmallow and cotton candy, with a syrupy mouthfeel and subtle mineral note. The earthy tone from the nose carries through.

Finish: Notes of cocoa powder, cappuccino and mint linger in the finish.

]]> Founded in 1828 by the Reid family in Campbeltown on the Mull of Kintyre peninsula, Springbank was taken over as early as 1837 by the Mitchell family, who still own it. The single malt Springbank is distilled two and a half times with water from the Crosshills Loch and little peated malt: A blend of feints and low wines is distilled a third time. Springbank also produces the single malts Longrow (double distilled, more peated malt) and Hazelburn (triple distilled, unpeated malt). All whiskies are not coloured and not chill-filtered.

]]> The history of the Marzadro distillery begins in 1949 in Brancolino di Nogaredo, in the heart of Vallagarina, in Trentino. An impressive area, interspersed with vineyards, which are “pulled up” with masterful care from the valley floor, which is partly cultivated with fruit trees, to the foot of the mountains. A pioneering start that consisted of tenacity, stubbornness and many promises that have been kept over time. Attilio Marzadro and his sister Sabina are the main characters in this story. Thanks to his extensive experience in growing the vines and his skill in adopting centuries-old art, he was able to win the best marc for grappa distillation. The Marzadro family already runs their business together with the third generation and has been able to maintain the traditional values ​​even with a view to continuous renewal. Against the romantic background of the revival and preservation of ancient traditions, Marzadro presents itself as a dynamic, continuously developing company, whose production takes place with constant respect for a healthy environment and with the use of impeccable raw materials and the most advanced processing systems. In order to obtain the heart of this valuable vine mix, distillation is carried out according to the traditional method: in a copper still, the pomace is heated in a discontinuous water bath. The grappa then rests for twelve months or more.
