The Glen Scotia distillery only produces peated barley for four weeks a year, which is why peated whiskies are released only rarely and for special occasions. The powerful finish in ruby port casks imparts a pronounced and fruity sweetness to the salty Campbeltown malt, creating a harmony between smoke and sweetness. The Campbeltown Malts Edition is bottled at cask strength with an alcohol content of 53.9% ABV.

Tasting Notes:
NOSE: Opens with sweet peat, ripe red cherry, and creamy vanilla fudge.
TASTE: Bursting with juicy mandarin before indulgent blackcurrant jam and layers of rich, smoky embers.
FINISH: Warming cinnamon and clove spice, coastal salinity, and lingering peat smoke.

Icons of Campbeltown No.3- The Wulver:
With the head of a wolf, the werewolf appears fearsome, yet behind his menacing appearance lies a gentle soul – symbolized by the wooden spear that carries the catch of fish for the Campbeltown community. According to legend, the wolf lived in a cave dug into a wooded hill, a place no one dared to enter. He spent his days fishing in solitude and generously shared his catch with the poorest members of the Campbeltown community, thus becoming a folkloric symbol of Campbeltown. Without ever expecting thanks or reciprocation, he became a symbol of quiet helpfulness – an attitude that continues to define Campbeltown today and lives on in the heart of the town – the DNA of Campbelltown.

The 12-year-old Campbeltown malt was first matured in first-fill bourbon casks, then refined for nine months in first-fill tawny port casks. Release No. 3 offers dark fruits, a rich sweetness, and chocolate notes – paired with the unmistakable maritime saltiness. Bottled at cask strength, non-chill-filtered, and natural color.

The “Campbeltown Saga” series represents the rich heritage of Campbeltown, the Victorian whisky capital. The year 1832, the founding year of Glen Scotia, was a time when whisky literally flowed through the streets of Campbeltown. During this period, 37 distilleries operated in the port city of Campbeltown, which, due to this golden era, is known as “Whiskyopolis,” supplying the entire world with Campbeltown whisky. Campbeltown whiskies are known for their robust, oily character and intense smoke, imparted by the local peat, which created a dense, peaty atmosphere in Campbeltown. That’s why we say Glen Scotia is whisky from the whiskiest place in the world.

For the series launch, Iain McAlister selects exclusively the rare medium-peated first-fill bourbon casks, from which peated spirit is produced for only one month of the year.

The medium-peated first-fill bourbon casks offer a rich, smoky Campbeltown malt with a pronounced maritime character. This rare peated whisky is a tribute to the golden era of whisky production in Campbeltown.

The Campbeltown malt was allowed to mature entirely in the finest first-fill bourbon casks. With 12 years of maturation, it highlights the distinctive Campbeltown characteristics and is accompanied by tropical fruit aromas and the distillery's popular maritime notes. Inspired by the blue dunnage warehouse doors, the new age statement is presented in striking royal blue.

This new Glen Scotia 12 Year Old opens with fresh sea air, honey-vanilla nuances, and exotic tropical fruits on the nose. On the palate, harmonious notes of caramelized sugar, spicy citrus fruits, and lively pineapple unfold, balanced by subtly toasted oak and a long-lasting, warming finish.

"In the north of Spain lies the renowned Spanish wine-growing region Ribera Del Duero DOP, where Tempranillo grapes are predominantly grown. This region is characterized by its powerful, dark-fruity and voluminous red wines that thrive in extreme weather conditions with hot summers and harsh winters. We are pleased to present you a new festival rarity from the Campbeltown distillery Glen Scotia, which stands out particularly due to the rare availability of peated whisky. The peat smoke unfolds on the nose, underlining the typical maritime and smoky style of the Glen Scotia Distillery. In the finish, the tropical aromas develop into ripe, strong red fruits and juicy blackberries thanks to the finish in Spanish red wine barrels. A light liquorice sweetness harmonizes with the maritime character of Glen Scotia and gives the single malt a complex character with impressive depth."
