]]> Founded in 1798, the distillery has borne both the name Tobermory and Ledaig in its chequered history with many closures. It is located in the town of Tobermory on the island of Mull and thus belongs to the Highlands category. Today, two single malts are produced at the distillery using water from Loch Mishnish: the unpeated Tobermory and the peated Ledaig.

]]> The distillery lays at the bottom of the Ben Nevis, the highest mountain of Scotland, located at the Western Highlands next to Fort William. It was built 1825 by John McDonald, a descendant of the Lord of the Isles. Between 1984 and 1990 the production was stopped, after Nikka took over the company the production continued one year later. The water for Ben Nevis comes from the Allt A Mhullin Burn.

]]> Glen Ord is located just outside Inverness in the valley of the Oran on Muir of Ord, where there were once 9 distilleries. What remains is the Ord Distillery, founded in 1838, which had to endure numerous name changes in the past; at times the whisky was also called Glen Oran, Ord, Ordie and Glenordie. The water of the distillery, which belongs to the region of the Northern Highlands, comes from Loch Nam Bonnach and Loch Nam Euan. Glen Ord has had 6 stills since 1966 and is now one of Diageo’s Classic Malts.
