Loch Lomond produces nine different types of spirit—and is the only distillery to make single grain whisky exclusively from malted barley. The Loch Lomond 2019/2026 was distilled in a column still and finished in small Koval Bourbon quarter casks, resulting in a delicious blend of banana milkshake, buttered popcorn, and a hint of cinnamon.

Nose: Intense smoke gives way to the rich, caramelized sweetness of toasted, fresh French oak. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove intertwine with baked apples and pears drizzled with honey. Peat remains a constant, powerful presence, weaving through the oak and spice notes.

Taste: Toasted oak, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, and a hint of sweet smoke. Apple and pear compote balances the richness of the oak. The barley creates a subtle, earthy undertone—reminiscent of rain-soaked soil—while smoke underscores the other flavors without overpowering them.

This whisky from the closed Oxford Artisan distillery was distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2023 for the Collective #1 series.

Stauning 2019 Peated Islay Cask – 61,6%

What are four engineers, a teacher, a cook, a butcher, a pilot and a doctor? The founding team of the Danish Stauning distillery! In 2005 the friends decided to put a vision into practice: single malt based on the model of peaty whiskey from the island of Islay. Despite little whiskey experience, it was quickly followed by great praise: “If you continue like this, it could become one of the best smoky whiskeys in the world,” said whiskey legend Jim Murray when he tried the New Make 2006.

The distillers from Ringkøbing Fjord put Danish whiskey on the map and wrote a success story with it. Single malt, malted rye whiskey and Co. from Stauning are based exclusively on high-quality ingredients from the region and a variety of different barrels. Even the standard range of the Danes is therefore very diverse. Stauning brings even more variety into play with single cask bottlings.

Melbourne – the pleasure metropolis of Australia. A young and innovative food and bar scene animates the city on the southeast coast of the continent. Inspired by her, the Starward Distillery produces a whisky that is completely new for Australia, which focuses on the pleasure experience, turns its back on conventions – and simply allows everything that pleases and tastes. For example the enjoyment of single malt and Co. for a BBQ with friends, with a thriller on the couch, with pizza or banana bread.

Freed from tradition, the distillery looks at whisky through the eyes of brewers and winemakers. It is made exclusively from ingredients from the region. In addition to barley, mainly from slightly charred or steamed red wine barrels from Australian wineries. Starward Whisky only needs three years in them for its fruity maturity. Responsible for this: the Melbourne climate. Constant changes in weather, the so-called “Four seasons in a day” at an average of up to 22.5 ° C, allow distillates to ripen in an elementary way – and create a whisky that cannot be found anywhere else.

Nc’Nean Huntress 2024 Orchard Cobbler – 48,5%

In addition to the well-being of the planet, Nc'nean follows another trail: innovative flavour experiences. Inspired by its namesake, the Gaelic goddess Neachneohain, known as a hunter, Scotland's leading organic distillery hunts down extraordinary flavours in the limited edition Huntress series.

The warming, homely flavours of cherry marzipan cake, apricot jam, custard and a little peppermint tea of the Nc'nean Huntress 2024: Orchard Cobbler are among them in that the distillate used is only produced once a year.

Unlike most distilleries, Nc'nean produces two different raw spirits each year: one for whisky that is younger in age and one for whisky that is to be released after at least ten years.

The new Orchard Cobbler is based on a distillate from the distillation process in the week following the changeover to this recipe - a time when the cut points are changed and an unusually large number of fruity components are incorporated into the raw spirit. So fruity, in fact, that the single malt was named after one of the team's favourite desserts.

Nagahama Single Malt 2019 Second Batch – 50%

The island nation’s smallest whisky distillery is located on Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan. Founded in 2016, Nagahama is part of a new generation of Japanese distilleries – and a response to the increasing demand for domestic premium products. The team around master blender Takashi Kiyoi distills the malty raw whiskey spirit in just 26 square meters. The equipment for this adapts to the space: Nagahama works with the smallest pot stills in Japan. The alambic stills provide extra fullness and depth.

The craft distillery’s aged stocks are still small. For their Amahagan World Blends, Nagahama combines their own spirit with selected malt whiskeys from around the world. After four bottlings with different barrel finishes, the Amahagan World Malt – Peated Edition now completes the series.

The distillery Arran is located on the head of an island that owns the same name and lays between the western coast of Scotland and the peninsula Kintryre. The island Arran has good access from Glasgow by car and ferry. The distillery started producing in 1995 on time delay, because of a pair of Golden Eagles that hatched right where the distillery was supposed to be build. It was built by Harold Currie, who had been very successful in the whisky industrie and even was director of Chevas. With building the distillery a big dream for him came true.
