Ledaig is a Single Malt that is produced at the distillery Tobermory which is located on the island Mull and used to have the name Ledaig during its turbulent history. It can be described as a Single Malt that is strongly peated.

The distillery was founded in 1798. It had a moved history with many close-downs and therefore it had different names as Tobermory and Ledaig. It is located in the Highlands, in Tobermory on the island Mull. Today the distillery produces two Single Malts: The unpeated Tobermory and the peated Ledaig.

Isle of Jura 2009 Whisky Agency & Sansibar – 51,8%

The darkest in the range – and you can tell straight away. 17 years old, matured in Tawny Port barriques, 51.8% ABV. On the palate: berry fruit, but not cloyingly sweet; rather, crisp and fresh, with herbal notes up front and wine gums in the middle. The finish is dry and long, with a blend of port notes and Jura spirit that’s a real treat. A modern island whisky with character – and a cask you don’t come across every day.

When Carsten Ehrlich and Jens Drewitz select whiskies together, the scene knows: this won’t be a fluke, it’ll be a statement.

The pair have been deeply immersed in the whisky game for years, having tasted, assessed, rejected and celebrated countless casks – and it is precisely this expertise, coupled with a healthy dose of friendship, that goes into the second joint batch from Sansibar Whisky & The Whisky Agency.

Just in time for the Whisky Fair in Limburg, they are presenting four bottlings that demonstrate why Carsten & Jens are among the most reliable noses and finest palates in the industry.

St. Lucia 2009 Chairman’s Reserve – Wu Dram Clan – 57,5%

Wu DRAM Clan consists of Takesado, Boris and Sebastian. These three have made it their mission to bottle only the best casks. And they have been doing so very successfully for several years now. In addition to single malt whisky, they also think outside the box and have brought excellent bottles of rum, cognac, armagnac, gin and bourbon to the market.

Bruichladdich 2009 Eldvatten “Rhino” – 58,3%

This bottling dates from 2009 and matured for a full 16 years in a rare Rivesaltes hogshead. Rivesaltes is a traditional, sweet French dessert wine from Roussillon – known for its aromas of honey, dried fruit, nuts, and warm spices. Such a cask imparts a deep, fruit-forward complexity to the Bruichladdich, perfectly complementing the distillery's maritime character. At 58.3% ABV, this single malt comes in its natural strength – powerful, aromatic, and untamed.

The rhinoceros on the label symbolizes precisely that: strength, earthiness, and a certain majestic wildness. A whisky that leaves a lasting impression.

Glenfarclas 2009 Family Cask Autumn 2025 – 60,3%

We have a pretty amicable friendship with the distillery Glenfarclas and especially with George Grant.
Glenfarclas means as much ‘valley of the green grassland’. It was built in 1836 by Robert Hay and bought by John Grant in 1865. Until today it still is owned by the family Grant. The family brings out standard bottlings as well as outstanding special bottlings with foresight and continuity. We had the great chance to choose several casks personally and do our own bottlings. Since 2006 George Grants visits in Itzehoe are one of our highlights we experienced. The mainly used Oloroso Sherry Casks give the whisky its character, that is pretty special and appreciated by whisky experts in the whole world.

Daftmill 2009 “Five Strength” 15 Jahre “4cl Sample” – 56,3%

At Daftmill Farm, everything actually revolves around the cultivation of malting barley, the rearing of beef cattle, potatoes, carrots and broccoli. Since 2018, however, the farm of the Cuthbert family from Fife in the Scottish Lowlands has been firmly on the whisky world map: after more than 12 years of waiting, Daftmill then brought its first single malt onto the market. The Cuthberts produce their Scotch in very small quantities, sometimes no more than 100 barrels a year, exclusively from their own barley. Distilling takes place in the low season (June and July as well as in winter) when neither potatoes have to be planted nor barley sown.

Miltonduff 2009 Cadenhead – 54,4%

Miltonduff, also Milton Duff or Milton-Duff, was built in 1824 on the site of the Pluscarden monastery in the town of the same name near Elgin and rebuilt in 1895. It was renovated in 1974 and 1999, and in 1974 two stills were installed for the production of Mosstowie whisky. Their water still comes from the Black Burn. Their whiskey is a main component of the Ballantines blend.

From 1994 to 1981 Mosstowie whisky was also distilled on a Lomond still at the Miltonduff Distillery.

Glentauchers 2009 Murray McDavid – 54,1%

Using over 40,000 casks from more than 90 different Scottish distilleries, Murray McDavid creates multi-faceted experiences ranging from ‘mystery malt’ to rarity.

At the end of its maturation period, this 15-year-old Glentauchers receives a finish in former cognac casks.
