The whiskey is made from organically grown Scottish barley in a distillery powered entirely by renewable energy. It is bottled in the UK’s first fully recycled clear glass bottle. “Made by nature, not by rules” is the motto of one of the few women-led whiskey distilleries in the world.

Due to its special location, especially the peat in Orkney, which differs significantly from the Islay peat, the whisky has a special taste. One of its basic flavours is the much-cited “heather sweetness”. The water comes from a lower spring, Cattie Maggie’s Quarry.

It is located in the Speyside, south of Elgin next to the Lossie and surrounded by forest. The water that is used for producing the whisky comes from springs of the Loch Milbuis. Nowadays Linkwood is owned by Diageo.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Notes of butterscotch and custard creams lead, with apple butter and white miso. Cream sponge and poached pear sweetness follows.
Palate: There is a creaminess on the palate in notes of shortbread crust and smooth caramel chocolate, with notes of gooseberries, white grapes, cigar box smoke and sandalwood developing.
Finish: Hints of green peppercorn and honeydew melon emerge in the finish, alongside an ashy note.

]]> The Glengyle Distillery was founded in 1872 in Campeltown, but it was closed down after World War I. In 2000 the owners of the Springbank Destillerie founded Mitchell’s Glengyle Ltd. The old distillery was completely rehabilitated. Since 2004 Glengyle is producing Whisky again, which was the first reopening of a Distillery in Campeltown for the last 125 years. The name “Glengyle” may not be used for the produced whisky, which is why it is called “Kilkerran”.

But when master blender and managing director Scott Sneddon, who can confidently be described as Mr InchDairnie, tasted eight-year-old samples from ex-bourbon casks that wonderfully combined the character of the distillery with peatiness, he couldn't help himself – a version simply had to go straight into the bottle.
Here are a few words to describe it: ‘This limited edition captivates with the intense warmth of a log fire and a complex combination of sweet, malty richness. Matured for eight years in ex-bourbon casks, it reveals an untamed yet precisely balanced smoky note.’

]]> The distillery, founded by Ian Palmer, began operations almost exactly 10 years ago in December 2015 in Glenrothes (Fife) and takes hi-tech whisky production to the extreme. However, the goal is not, as one might assume, highly efficient mass production, but rather the maximum possible intensification of flavour in the distillates: ‘A Modern Distillery on a Quest for Flavour’.

The production process differs from the classic approach in many areas. For example, there is no mash tun, but a mash filter press (only two distilleries in Scotland use this technology) for higher sugar concentration in the wort. Double condensers behind the stills ensure immense copper contact, and sophisticated wood management contributes to the amazing whiskies.
