The cask was allowed to mature for a full 19 years, an impressive 14 of which were spent in the tropical climate of Jamaica itself. It is precisely this long maturation at its place of origin that ensures tremendous concentration, intense fruit aromas and remarkable depth.

In the glass, the rum is complex and expressive: ripe mango, passion fruit, melon and gooseberries combine with elegant esters, subtle spice and that characteristic Jamaican vigour. Despite its intense cask strength, the rum remains astonishingly balanced and lively.

It is primarily recommended for drinking neat, to fully appreciate the subtle nuances of the ageing process, but can also be enhanced with a drop of water. For lovers of characterful Jamaican spirits, this rare bottling is a valuable addition to any collection, impressing not only with its depth of flavour but also visually thanks to its high-quality green presentation box.

On the nose, a lively bouquet of citrus notes unfolds, accompanied by a delicate sweetness of vanilla and caramel, as well as a subtle nutty nuance. On the palate, the rum is full-bodied and structured, with ripe dark fruits meeting a distinctive yet harmoniously integrated woody spice. Particularly distinctive is the interplay of oak and a dry texture, which leads to a long-lasting finish with hints of dried fruit and subtle toasted aromas.

Overproof – 69% https://www.whizita.de/en/product/planteray-o-f-t-d-overproof-69/ Thu, 21 May 2026 15:58:01 +0000 https://www.whizita.de/?post_type=product&p=180932 This overproof rum is a blend of excellent rums from Guyana (aged for 1–2 years in new and old oak casks), Jamaica (one rum aged for 1–2 years in old and new oak casks and another aged for 14 years in new casks) and Barbados (aged for 2–5 years in bourbon casks).
In France, this blend was then aged for a further 3–6 months in small, used FERRAND casks. Alexandre Gabriel teamed up with six other ‘rum enthusiasts’ to create this wonderful rum. OFTD stands for: Old Fashioned Traditional Dark.

Through this collaboration, Alexandre Gabriel had the opportunity to discover various aged spirits with an impressive variety of flavours. He was so impressed by the quality that he decided to bring these exceptional rums to market.

The PLANTATION range – now renamed PLANTERAY – was born.
Each rum is produced according to the traditional methods of its country of origin, allowing it to impressively express the full potential of its homeland.

All the rums have been gently filtered. This white rum perfectly combines the typical characteristics of the Caribbean’s three leading rum-producing islands.

The single cask brings variety to the palate of Jamaica rum fans. The reason? A five-year finish in Oloroso sherry casks in a continental climate.

At 57.84% vol. Cask Strength, balsamic influences of the sherry cask unfold alongside typical notes of wood glue, polishing wax and fermented fruits - with dark notes of brown sugar, liquorice root, camphor and cinnamon. The finish is long and warm, with white pepper and grassy notes.

Founded in 1999, the company today looks back on an impressive range of bottlings from the Caribbean, South and Central America, as well as underdogs like Madeira. In contrast to its single domain rums, the independent bottler reveals which distillery the individually numbered rarity is owed to in the Rare Rums series. The small-batch series also stands out externally: with an elegant glass stopper instead of the usual cork, a reduced black-and-white design and new gift packaging.
