This 10-year-old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a true tribute to its island home. Bottled at 50% ABV and matured primarily in Bourbon casks (95%) with a small proportion of first-fill Sauternes casks (5%), this is Bruichladdich at its best.

Notes:
Nose: A vibrant bouquet of ripe stone fruits opens on the nose, featuring apricot, nectarine, and red plum. Creamy vanilla custard and barley sugar are complemented by delicate notes of orange blossom and fresh geranium leaves, while a gentle, salty sea breeze adds a touch of coastal freshness.
Taste: The palate is balanced and viscous, with juicy stone fruits adding a bright citrus note. Layers of soft barley sugar, stewed pear, and ripe apple come to the fore, while high-quality oak contributes notes of creamy coconut and caramelized vanilla custard. Warming clove and ginger provide a gentle spice, while toasted almonds, golden sugar, and a hint of minerality lend depth, complexity, and structure to the whisky.

]]> The distillery Bruichladdich, which means as much as ‘corner of the beach’ is the most essential distillery generally. It was built 1881 by the Harley Brothers. After the distillery was shut down for a period of time there was proclaimed on the 20th of December 2000 that it would be re-opened again. Already in May 2001 there came the first newmake out of the stills. The success of the distillery is closely connected with the activities of one of the most significant men in the whisky industry whose name is Jim McEwan. In 2012 the distillery once again changed its owner for 58 Million pounds and is now owned by Remy Cointreau.

]]> The distillery is located a few miles west of Pitlochry near Moulin and is part of the Highland whisky region. It was probably founded in 1825 and is the only Scottish distillery that has been preserved entirely in the style of traditional farmhouse operations. For a long time, this also made it the smallest distillery in Scotland. Its two stills produced just 15 casks per week. Today, production capacity is around 500,000 liters of pure alcohol per year, following the commissioning of an extension to the distillery in February 2018.

]]> More than 3,600 supporters made the GlenWyvis Distillery project possible. Founded in 2015 in the Scottish Highlands near Inverness, the whisky distillery is entirely community-owned. A record-breaking crowdfunding campaign funded the £3.8 million project, reviving the distilling tradition of Dingwall after 90 years.
Nestled between the foothills of Ben Wyvis, GlenWyvis brings together renewable energy (the distillery is completely independent of the electricity grid) with local barley, long fermentation and traditional copper stills. The result is a robust single malt, fragrant and fruity. The small distillery released its first whisky at the end of 2021.

]]> The name Ardbeg means as much as ‘little hill’. It is located at the southern coast of the whisky island Islay between Port Ellen and Kildalton. The location already has been popular for illegal distilleries. After a history with ups and downs including temporary close-downs the distillery was inherited by Glenmorangie PLC in 1997, which were themselves bought by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy in 2004. Today it is one of the most famous distilleries in Scotland, known for its smokey, peaty and salty bottlings with strong note of phenol. Two bottlings are named like the lakes the water of the distillery comes from: Loch Arinambeast and Loch Uigeadail. In 2015 Ardbeg celebrated its bicentenary.

Before 18 Years ago we were able to win over the first Islay farmer to grow barley on Islay, an important step for our terroir vision. The Eighteen has the soul of Islay, organic and Scottish mainland barley - that is exactly what we consider “high provenance”. None The only barrel filled for The Bruichladdich Eighteen ever left the island of Islay afterwards.

Every little detail - from the specific barley variety to the barrel maturity profile - is completely transparent and traceable. Over 50% of our barley is already grown on Islay
Nevertheless, we also rely on barley from our farmer on the Scottish mainland. Eighteen has the soul of Islay, organic and mainland Scottish barley, with each variety and harvest year fully traceable from farm to bottle.

TASTING NOTES
FRAGRANCE: Intense scent of ripe peach and honeysuckle with floral hints of violet and lavender. The counterpart for the perfect balance is embodied by sweet and spicy notes that are reminiscent of vanilla, coconut and charred oak. Over time, a mixture of tropical fruits with melon, peach, apricot and citrus comes to the fore; the long maturation time in the wood reinforces opulent hints of honey, caramel and crème brûlée.

TASTE: Very voluminous and almost viscous in texture. Honey, butterscotch and fresh fruit appear, followed by sweet oatmeal, barley sugar and toasted oak. The woody, spicy finish is reminiscent of tropical fruits with a touch of leather and honeycomb, which further enhance the sweet character of this special single malt."

AFTERMATH: The typical Bruichladdich character also comes through very clearly in the aftertaste. The Eighteen has the classic minerality of a Bruichladdich single malt, perfectly balanced with oak, stone fruit and a delicate floral bouquet.

]]> Glencadam, which translates as “Valley of the Wild Goose”, was commissioned in Brechin in 1825. Most of the production is used for the Ballantines brand. After 180 years in the whisky waiting loop, Glencadam took the step out of the shadow of the blend industry onto the stage of the original bottlers. But rather quietly. Their “East Highlands” single malt made from unpeated barley malt is still considered an insider tip today.
The whiskies, which are up to 30 years old and neither coloured nor chill-filtered, are produced in two original copper pot stills, just as they were in the founding days of the small distillery. Due to their construction, these produce a particularly delicate and soft spirit. This is because the Lyne arms run at an angle of 15 degrees upwards, not downwards.
