Murray McDavid initially allowed this spirit—distilled in 2008—to mature in ex-bourbon hogsheads before transferring it to a Pedro Ximénez barrique from the esteemed Bodegas Ximénez-Spinola for the crucial finishing stage. This four-year maturation in staves deeply imbued with sherry imparts a complexity to the whisky that can only be achieved through artisanal precision and the "art of maturation."

On the nose, a complex bouquet unfolds with notes of baked apple, dried apricot, and the waxy character typical of Mortlach. On the palate, the malt reveals a generous side, featuring notes of soft toffee, ripe peach, and a rich, almost chewy malty body. The finish is reminiscent of freshly baked brioche and stroopwafel, underpinned by a warming, buttery spice that lingers, echoing the deep mahogany hue in the glass.

Er wird auf Basis von Zuckerrohrmelasse sowohl auf einer Column Still als auch auf einer Pot Still destilliert. Anschließend erfolgt eine Reifung für mehrere Jahre in Bourbonföässern im tropischen Klima der Insel. Anschließend wird der Rum in den Kellern der Maison Ferrand in Frankreich über mehrere Jahre in Ex-Cognac-Casks im kontinentalen Klima gereift, bevor er zu guter Letzt für ein mehrmonatiges Finish in Ex-Pedro-Ximénez-Casks gefüllt wird.

]]> Miltonduff, also Milton Duff or Milton-Duff, was built in 1824 on the site of the Pluscarden monastery in the town of the same name near Elgin and rebuilt in 1895. It was renovated in 1974 and 1999, and in 1974 two stills were installed for the production of Mosstowie whisky. Their water still comes from the Black Burn. Their whiskey is a main component of the Ballantines blend.

From 1994 to 1981 Mosstowie whisky was also distilled on a Lomond still at the Miltonduff Distillery.

The single malt has an alcohol content of 60.7% vol. delicious notes of BBQ sauce and smoked ham via pickled plum to tobacco and dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Rich smoky BBQ sauce, tobacco leaves and lush smoked Iberico ham open to ripe juicy blackberries and sticky poached plums.
Palate: Sweet BBQ smoke with grilled pineapple and banana leads to slow roasted coffee beans, dried apricots and flambéed orange peel.
Finish: Long and full-bodied, with lingering notes of sweet tobacco, dark chocolate and juicy raisins and sultanas, complemented by traces of toasted oak.

]]> Already in 1770 there was a distillery at the current location of the Glasgow distillery, called Dundashill, which was then one of the first licensed whisky distilleries. In 2014, Liam Hughes, Mike Hayward and Ian McDougall decided to revive this piece of history and founded the Glasgow Destillery. It is now one of the few urban distilleries in Scotland dedicated to whisky production. With their now four pot stills, they currently produce around 440,000 liters of alcohol a year.

]]> The distillery was founded in 1964 and is named like the highest-located village of Scotland. It is located in an romantic area near Ballindaloch. The water the distillery uses comes from the Ballantruan Spring. Most part of the produced whisky is used for making Blends, especially the White & Mackay.
