This spiced rum blend is based on the same barrels as the Navy series and offers a dark, full-bodied and aromatic flavour profile. As the name suggests, Black Barrel is matured in heavily charred oak barrels. The charred surface reduces the tannins and opens the pores of the wood – for a smoother, rounder and more complex character.

]]> Glenmorangie started producing in 1843 in an reconstructed brewery. In 1887 the distillery was completely new constructed. It is located in the northern Highlands in Tain. Stories tell that its whisky has never been sold for making blends. There used to be an old rule that claimed that there should always be sixteen men in the distillery making the whisky. This is why the distillery is also known under the name ‘ The sixteen men of Tain’. Glenmorangie even has own forests where it gets its wood for the casks from. Therefore it has a big impact on the development of using different wood and cask types during making whisky. Today the distillery is owned by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy.
