After the Loch Lomond Distillery was once again recognized as the fastest-growing distillery this year, we are delighted to present the innovative distillery's exclusively selected Remarkable Society Edition: Loch Lomond 12 Year Old Moscatel Finish. Awaiting you is a 12-year-old single malt, distilled in the unique straight neck stills (the only ones in Scotland) and the more traditional swan neck stills, with an intensely sweet finishing in Moscatel casks.

The truly sweet side of sherry is showcased by the extremely rare grape varieties Pedro Ximénez (about 3% of the vineyard area) and Moscatel (about 2% of the vineyard area). The grapes from these varieties are sun-dried outdoors after harvest until they have shriveled into almost deep, dark raisins. However, after this intense sunbathing, their sugar content is extremely high, as is the intensity of labor and craftsmanship required to make Sherry Moscatel.
Moscatel is one of the Sherry grapes with particularly fruity notes. These are typical of the Muscat grape and give it a very special aroma. The Moscatel finish forms a unique composition with the exceptionally fruity signature style of the "Most Awarded Distillery" Loch Lomond. Another unique selling point is the rarity of the Moscatel casks, which lends the fruity style of Loch Lomond whisky an additional intense sweetness.

It lays in an industry area of Alexandria at the southern edge of the Loch Lomond. The distillery is the only distillery that can offer a Single Blend, because there is a grain distillery at the compound as well.

Already in the 15th century there were cattlemen who settled down at the place in the Highlands in Tomatin, were the distillery is standing nowadays. It was legalized in 1897. Today the A9 connecting Perth and Inverness is near the distillery, which belongs to the biggest ones in Scotland. Most part of the produced whisky is used for making Blends.

The Hellespont, now known as the Dardanelles, stretches between the European Gelibolu peninsula and northwestern Asia Minor. Up to six kilometers wide, the strait is a geographical dividing line between Europe and Asia. Anyone who swims from shore to shore connects continents. Like Alex and Nick Ravenhall as they crossed the water accompanied by a warm breeze. The New Zealand brothers are as dedicated to the whiskey industry as they are to the oceans. With their non-profit organization Whiskey and Waves, the open water swimmers collect donations that go to Sea Shepherd's ocean conservationists. This time they were once again supported by the iconic Bimber Distillery. Each of their swims through the Dardanelles was accompanied by Londoners' single malt strapped to their arms and legs. Bimber then filled the intercontinental drams back into the cask and perfected them in the Moscatel Cask No. 439 to create the single cask bottling Intercontinental.

The Bimber Distillery was founded by whisky lovers who made it their mission to produce high-quality single malt whisky with character, using traditional methods that are rarely found today. Regional Single Farm Barley. Barley malt from the traditional malting floor. Washbacks from their own cooperage. Bimber’s production process reads like the ideal of a whisky distillery. Although based in London, the Craft Distillery is not influenced by the fast pace of the metropolis. With attention to detail, 7-day fermentation and two direct-fired pot stills, sought-after English whisky is produced here.

This 12 year old Glenallachie was created by Billy Walker. The whiskey first matured in bourbon barrels for over 8 years and was then finished in Moscatel barrels for 42 months. The result is a fruity whiskey with fine toffee notes.

The distillery: back in Scottish private ownership since 2017
Founded in 1967, The GlenAllachie Distillery has long been foreign owned. In 2017, The GlenAllachie Distillers Company bought the distillery in Speyside – together with the filled casks in the warehouse. Its new owners: longtime Scotch whiskey luminary Billy Walker and his partners Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson. The new team was introduced to their special features by long-standing employees of the distillery. Below: The distillery has four stills and two separate spirit safes – and can therefore produce two different distillates in parallel, for example smoky and non-smoky New Make.
The GlenAllachie Distillery has so far produced almost exclusively blended whiskeys. Single malt, on the other hand, was extremely rarely available, for example through independent bottlers. This changed in 2017 with the takeover by Billy Walker’s team. Age information for its single malts is important to The GlenAllachie: The core range consists of a 10, 12, 18 and 25 year old whisky. In addition, regular single cask and special bottlings are planned – and from 2018 even a smoky whiskey.

The distillery is located north of Port Askaig on the isle Islay directly at the kyle of Islay. From the distillery you have a wonderful view of the isle Jura. It was built in 1846 and since 1974 it has a completely new stillhouse with six stills. It is owned by Diageo and can be mentioned as a good example for a ‘working house’ that mainly produces for blends for Johnnie Walker.

Unusual for the Lowlands, the Glasgow Distillery burns, among other things, single malt from peat malt. For the exclusive bottling, it spent its final maturation period in a barrel pre-loaded with Moscatel. The sweet wine is made from the sherry grape of the same name and develops a high sugar content. The result at a strong 60.1% vol. Cask Strength: sweet smoke, floral notes, tobacco, citrus and spices.
