The distillery, with a name that means as much as ‘mountainside’ or ‘garden on the slope’, is located some miles north of Dunrobin Castle near to the village Brora and therefore belongs to the northern Highlands. It was built in 1967 next to another distillery. Since both distilleries produced under the same name for a period of time the other one changed its name to ‘Brora’. It smells fragrant, fruity, slightly smoky, and with a hint of the sea. It tastes spicy, creamy, fruity, and again delicately smoky. And it absolutely cannot tolerate being diluted with water.
