The Westland distillery is located in Seattle, Washington USA. They have consciously decided against the production of bourbon, but for the category of American Single Malt Whiskey. Thus, they founded and lead the ASMW Commission, to which 110 distilleries now belong.
\nSince its founding in January 2010, the distillery has placed the highest value on quality. Every single malt is made from 100% malted barley. The distillate is only distilled up to 80% vol. For the production of the American Oak, 5 different types of grain are used, Washington Select Pale Malt, Munich Malt, extra special malt, light chocolate malt and brown malt. Maturation in both Select and Reserve New American Oak casks, as well as ex-bourbon casks as the first filling, creates a very well-developed single malt. The aroma evokes childhood memories of fresh waffles and chocolate pudding.
