The Craigellachie is located in the Speyside. It was founded by Peter Mackie and others and built in 1891. In 1964 the distillery was extended to owning four stills. Nowadays the distillery is owned by Bacardi Martini. From Speyside comes a 12-year-old Craigellachie matured in first-fill sherry hogsheads, and this too is typical of this distillery\u2019s spirits: always robust and assertive, it opens with notes of pastry and caramelised sugar before fruity hints of apple compote take over. Caramel remains ever-present, yet there\u2019s also a hint of lemon cake, sweet and full-bodied.
