What are four engineers, a teacher, a cook, a butcher, a pilot and a doctor? The founding team of the Danish Stauning distillery! In 2005 the friends decided to put a vision into practice: single malt based on the model of peaty whiskey from the island of Islay. Despite little whiskey experience, it was quickly followed by great praise: “If you continue like this, it could become one of the best smoky whiskeys in the world,” said whiskey legend Jim Murray when he tried the New Make 2006.<\/p>\n
The distillers from Ringk\u00f8bing Fjord put Danish whiskey on the map and wrote a success story with it. Single malt, malted rye whiskey and Co. from Stauning are based exclusively on high-quality ingredients from the region and a variety of different barrels. The Stauning Rye Sherry Cask Finish initially matured in American Virgin Oak casks. For the finish, 13 Oloroso and Moscatel sherry casks from the Jerez region in Spain were selected.
