What are four engineers, a teacher, a cook, a butcher, a pilot and a doctor? The founding team of the Danish Stauning distillery! In 2005 the friends decided to put a vision into practice: single malt based on the model of peaty whiskey from the island of Islay. Despite little whiskey experience, it was quickly followed by great praise: “If you continue like this, it could become one of the best smoky whiskeys in the world,” said whiskey legend Jim Murray when he tried the New Make 2006.<\/p>\n
The distillers from Ringk\u00f8bing Fjord put Danish whiskey on the map and wrote a success story with it. Single malt, malted rye whiskey and Co. from Stauning are based exclusively on high-quality ingredients from the region and a variety of different barrels. The latest Heimat Essence is Stauning H\u00d8ST, a distinctively fruity blended malt based on rye and barley.<\/p>\n
Named after the Danish word for \u201charvest,\u201d H\u00d8ST pays homage to the changing seasons that produce the raw materials for making whiskey. The blended malt combines rye and single malt whiskey from the distillery made from grain that grows just a few kilometers away. Bourbon casks and heavily burned new American white oak give Stauning H\u00d8ST character. The final maturation in first fill port barriques rounds off the fruity experience with floral undertones.<\/p>\n
Accessible in terms of taste and price, the new standard invites you into the world of Stauning and can be enjoyed in a variety of ways – neat or in drinks.<\/p>\n
