The name Ardbeg means as much as ‘little hill’. It is located at the southern coast of the whisky island Islay between Port Ellen and Kildalton. The location already has been popular for illegal distilleries. After a history with ups and downs including temporary close-downs the distillery was inherited by Glenmorangie PLC in 1997, which were themselves bought by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy in 2004. Today it is one of the most famous distilleries in Scotland, known for its smokey, peaty and salty bottlings with strong note of phenol. Two bottlings are named like the lakes the water of the distillery comes from: Loch Arinambeast and Loch Uigeadail. In 2015 Ardbeg celebrated its bicentenary.

Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Years Old Batch 5. Produced in small batches year after year, this exquisite whisky is inspired by the beautiful beaches of Traigh Bhan (pronounced Träi-Wan), known locally as the ‘Singing Beaches’ on Islay. This untamed 19 Years Old was matured in ex-Bourbon and Olorosso sherry casks. With a higher proportion of ex-Oloroso sherry casks, this year’s bottling is again subtly different from its predecessors, with aromas of chocolate and sultanas and a distinct menthol character. The flavour profile is not the only thing that changes from year to year. Each batch of Traigh Bhan has its own batch number, batch symbol and the signature of a familiar distillery face, making it a collector’s item.

[2304,2258,2508,10242,2204,2276,2170

post-153358","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","product_cat-ardbeg-en","product_cat-distilleries-en","product_cat-islay-en","product_cat-regions","product_cat-scotland-en","product_cat-single-malt-en","product_cat-whisky-en","pa_bottling_date-2023-en","pa_cask_type-americanoak-en","pa_cask_type-oloroso-sherry-cask-en","pa_country-schottland-en-2","pa_destillation_age-19-en","pa_destillation_date-keine-angabe-en-2","pa_region-islay-en","pa_whisky_bottler-destillen-original-abfuellung-en","pa_whisky_bottler_series-keine-angabe-en-2","first","instock","sold-individually","taxable","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-simple
