The Craigellachie distillery is in Speyside. Once founded by Peter Mackie, among others, the distillery, which was built in 1891, is now owned by the Bacardi Martini Group. During the renovation in 1964 the distillery was expanded to 4 stills. The water no longer comes from the Hill of Little Conval as it used to, but from Blue Hill. During production, the steam is cooled down by so-called “worm tubs” – spiral-shaped copper tubes.
