Glenmorangie started producing in 1843 in an reconstructed brewery. In 1887 the distillery was completely new constructed. It is located in the northern Highlands in Tain. Stories tell that its whisky has never been sold for making blends. There used to be an old rule that claimed that there should always be sixteen men in the distillery making the whisky. This is why the distillery is also known under the name ‘ The sixteen men of Tain’. Glenmorangie even has own forests where it gets its wood for the casks from. Therefore it has a big impact on the development of using different wood and cask types during making whisky. The new Edition of the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban was matured for 14 years.
