For the finishing of The GlenAllachie 10 y.o. - Spanish Oak Wood Finish, casks made of Quercus Robur were used. The oak comes predominantly from the Cantabria Mountains in Spain and gives the Speyside single malt spicy as well as dark sweet notes.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Lush orchard fruit, baking spices and sticky toffee pudding, with notes of brown sugar glazed cherries and citrus.

Palate: Full of chocolate, coffee and heather honey, followed by notes of pepper, ginger and molasses, with banana and sultanas on the finish.

Scottish oak is also rare in whisky maturation. Its processing into staves not only requires special skill, it is also rare and expensive. Sessile oak from the Atlantic coast makes The GlenAllachie 8 y.o. - Scottish Oak Wood Finish an exceptional dram and gives it a delicious sweetness.

Nose: Strong aromas of toasted oats, caramel and toffee with notes of cinnamon, ginger biscuits and heather honey.

Palate: Lots of heather honey, fruit and lemon zest, followed by white chocolate, cinnamon and ginger, with caramel and butterscotch on the finish.

Today, the series has grown to include a trio that provides unusual pleasurable experiences - for example, thanks to refinement in rare Hungarian oak. The GlenAllachie 7 y.o. - Hungarian Oak Wood Finish was matured for 18 months in Quercus Petraea from the Zemplén forest in the mountains of north-eastern Hungary. The result: a balanced, silky whisky with spicy oak and soft berry notes.

Nose: Full-bodied with caramel, citrus and milk chocolate, with cinnamon, sultanas, fruit and ginger.

Palate: Lots of heather honey and cinnamon, followed by chocolate, lemon candy and caramelised brown sugar.
