]]> The distillery whose name means as much as ‘great barrier’ is located next to the shore of Loch Indaal in the center of the isle Islay. Founded in 1779 it is one of the oldest distilleries in Sotland, owned by the japanese Suntory Group. The water comes from the River Laggan.

]]> Glenrothes was founded by William Grant & Co. In 1878 and is located in the Speyside in the area of Rothes. A fire destroyed warehouse number one and the 2.000 stored casks on the 15th May in 1922. The burning whiksy was flowing down the Burn of Rothes admist through the village.

]]> There exist stories that tell that on Jura whisky has been produced off the books already in 1502. The history of the distillery Isle of Jura as it exists today started in 1963 as it was rebuilt on its todays place. The water the distillery uses comes from the Bhaile Mhargaidh.
