The heavy molasses rum with its unique flavour profile has long since become a legend among connoisseurs. The Caroni Distillery 23 y.o. belongs to the sought-after HTR marque and develops both typically dirty and intensely fruity notes at high cask strength.

The portfolio of the independent bottler Boutique-y Whisky Company ranges from single malt whiskies to blended malts, grain whiskies and bourbon. TBWC works with distilleries from Scotland and around the world to create its products. Bunnahabhain, Linkwood, The Glenlivet, Paul John, Mackmyra and Slyrs are just a few examples. Sometimes, casks from defunct distilleries, such as the Scottish Cambus Distillery, are also bottled. All products are small batches that are bottled at cask strength.

The owners Ben Ellefsen and David T. Smith love the unusual. This also applies to the design: graphic designer Emily Chappell does intensive research on stories, backgrounds and fun facts about the respective distillery and records them on the label with a wink. On a Glenrothes bottling, for example, they depict the graveyard that is located right next to the distillery – including the ghost that is said to have haunted the distillery a few years ago.

Ledaig 21 Jahre Boutique-Y – 48,7%

Ledaig is a Single Malt that is produced at the distillery Tobermory which is located on the island Mull and used to have the name Ledaig during its turbulent history. It can be described as a Single Malt that is strongly peated.

Tomatin 11 years Boutique – 51%

Already in the 15th century there were cattlemen who settled down at the place in the Highlands in Tomatin, were the distillery is standing nowadays. It was legalized in 1897. Today the A9 connecting Perth and Inverness is near the distillery, which belongs to the biggest ones in Scotland. Most part of the produced whisky is used for making Blends.

Cambus 28 years Boutique – 50,9%

Cambus was a grain distillery that was part of the Diageo range. It was in Tullibody, Clackmannanshire, which in turn is in the Lowlands. They had two Coffey stills, which was supplied with water from the Lossburn reservoir. It was closed in 1993. The old building is now used by Diageo to fill barrels and as a warehouse.

What are four engineers, a teacher, a cook, a butcher, a pilot and a doctor? The founding team of the Danish Stauning distillery! In 2005 the friends decided to put a vision into practice: single malt based on the model of peaty whisky from the island of Islay. Despite little whisky experience, it was quickly followed by great praise: “If you continue like this, it could become one of the best smoky whiskys in the world,” said whisky legend Jim Murray when he tried the New Make in 2006.

The distillers from Ringkøbing Fjord put Danish whisky on the map and wrote a success story with it. Single malt, malted rye whisky and Co. from Stauning are based exclusively on high-quality ingredients from the region and a variety of different barrels. Even the standard range of the Danes is therefore very diverse. Stauning brings even more variety into play with single cask bottlings.

That Boutique-y launched its own Rye Series this year – a collection of craft rye whiskys in small batches from unusual and exciting distilleries and regions.
