Speyburn

The builder John Hopkins was determined to start production in 1897 to have a whisky from Queen Victoria’s “Diamond Jubilee”. Shortly after Christmas, his employees managed to produce a barrel in the still windowless and doorless distillery. Speyburn is one of Scotland's smaller distilleries, situated on the banks of the River Spey in a valley in the middle of the forest near Rothes in the Speyside. It gets its water from the Granty Burn.
