The French vermouth brand La Quintinye is named after Jean-Baptiste de La Quintinye. La Quintinye was the botanist of the kitchen garden at the Palace of Versailles at the time of Louis XIV. Due to the large variety of spices in this garden, the name fits perfectly with the company’s vermouth fillings refined with spices.
Jean-Sébastien Robicquet, who developed the vermouth series, uses Pineau de Charentes for the presumption in addition to wine and herbs. To make a pineau, cognac is mixed with grape must and then aged in wooden barrels for a few years. The fruity notes of the Pineau are also reflected in the vermouth varieties of the la Quintinye brand. The combination of wine, herbs, spices and Pineau de Charentes gives all vermouths in the series a harmonious and, above all, powerful taste.
At the core of the assumption are twelve herbs and spices. These include vermouth, angelica, cinnamon, bitter wood, ginger, cardamom, vine flowers, licorice, iris root, bitter oranges, nutmeg and quinine.
