This Tomatin 2009 matured in a Tempranillo Wine Barrique and was awarded by Flickenschild & bottled at the whiskey hoard. Overall, the barrel with the number 3505 yielded 286 bottles with 60.3%.
After we launched a Tomatin from the Tempranillo cask together with Whiskeyhort almost a year ago and it was completely sold out within a few days, it was clear to us that this wasn’t the case the last Tomatin might have been! And what shall we say? Our anticipation since the selection of the cask has even increased after the arrival of the bottles. The taste of the bottling differs significantly from last year’s edition, but that in no way detracts from the quality!
Intense fruity notes, nutty hints, dark grapes and chocolate are just a few of the facets to be discovered in this whisky, which should definitely be given some time in the glass and which surprisingly often changes over time ! After almost 13 years, the 60.3% are very well integrated and hardly noticeable.
If you still have some leftovers from the old bottling, you should definitely try both bottlings at the same time!
