Fresh spring water from Westphalia, local barley, a master distiller with know-how from a Scottish distillery, storage in aromatic Scottish whiskey casks. All these components add up to “The Westfalian”.

This single grain was distilled in 2013 and matured in an ex. Longmorn Sherry Hogshead. Bottling is limited to 300 bottles.

Nose: Dry red wine, smoked bacon, open fireplace, red berries, ripe black cherries, dark honey, chocolate sprinkles
Taste: Strong smoke, some ash, spicy, warming, fruity red wine, blackberries, black cherries, smoked bacon, dark honey, tobacco, old leather, old oak, red wine, dark chocolate, slightly dry

The Westfalian was made by the german stillman Wilhelm Nothoff in the “Feinbrennerei Northoff”. To produce this whisky was the idea of Thomas Ewers (Malts of Scotland). The quality of this whisky is very high although it is still young. The Westfalian was medalled a few times by th IWSC in 2017.
