Stroma is a malt whisky liqueur from Pulteney and means “island in the stream”. The liqueur itself is a blend of various single malts from the distillery, which are then complemented with spices, herbs and honey. The taste of this liqueur is initially characterised by a pleasant sweetness, which is complemented by aromas of fruit and honey. The addition of herbs and spices is particularly noticeable in the finish.

Founded in 1826 by James Henderson in the harbour town of Wick in the Pulteney district, the distillery was the northernmost on the Scottish mainland until 2013. Water from the Loch of Yarrows is used to produce the single malt, which bears the name Old Pulteney, probably to indicate that the whisky matures particularly quickly here.
