This Speyburn single malt was finished in rum casks after being matured in American bourbon casks. These casks give the whisky fruity, caramelized notes and a subtle, spicy finish.

The founder of the distillery, John Hopkins, had the aim to already produce a whisky in the year of the founding in 1897, because this year was the year of the ‘Diamond Jubilee’ of Queen Victoria. At the end of December his employees were able to produce one cask of whisky in a distillery that didn’t even have windows. The distillery is one of the smallest in Scotland and is located in the woods near Rothes in the Speyside.
