This Speyburn spent its entire maturation period in American bourbon barrels. This maturation gives the whisky a bright and fresh aroma with a subtle sweet note.

The founder of the distillery, John Hopkins, had the aim to already produce a whisky in the year of the founding in 1897, because this year was the year of the ‘Diamond Jubilee’ of Queen Victoria. At the end of December his employees were able to produce one cask of whisky in a distillery that didn’t even have windows. The distillery is one of the smallest in Scotland and is located in the woods near Rothes in the Speyside.
