Speyburn distillate isn’t often found at independent bottlers. And 18 years of maturation in first-fill bourbon barrels is even rarer. Luckily, Jamie, Calum, and John have excellent connections. This allows them to offer a sumptuous malt with a perfect combination of juicy fruit notes and caramel: banana, kiwi, pear, plus plenty of milk chocolate, toffee, and a touch of nutmeg.

The founder of the distillery, John Hopkins, had the aim to already produce a whisky in the year of the founding in 1897, because this year was the year of the ‘Diamond Jubilee’ of Queen Victoria. At the end of December his employees were able to produce one cask of whisky in a distillery that didn’t even have windows. The distillery is one of the smallest in Scotland and is located in the woods near Rothes in the Speyside.
