Octomore 17.3 puts the spotlight on barley, provenance and the character of the location. This spirit-driven bottling combines powerful peat with elegance and nuanced flavours. Sweet first-fill oak reveals notes of salted caramel, smoked apple and toasted
coconut. These are complemented by praline and vanilla cream. Deeply charred peat settles on the palate as a dry, ashy smoke, whilst citrus oils and saltiness provide clarity. Over time, the spirit, cask and grain combine to create a dram that is both powerful and balanced.

Phenolic content: 132.1 PPM
Origin of the barley: Grown exclusively in a single field at Octomore Farm on Islay
Cask maturation: A blend of first-fill bourbon casks and second-fill casks from Ribera del Duero, Sauternes, Eiswein and Syrah

The distillery was founded in 1816 by George Montgomery. It is located on the island Islay in Port Charlotte. 1852 the distillery was taken over by Thomas Pattinson and got shut down in the same year. Although there were plans in 2008 to reopen the distillery by Bruichladdich, they were not realised. But since the same year Bruichladdich is bottling a heavy peated Single Malt called Octomore.
