Octomore 17.2 is the second instalment in the Seventeen Series and features double wood maturation. The intense smokiness of the malt meets fruity and spicy notes from the cask maturation: strawberry, blackberry and cassis blend with steadily intensifying peat smoke. Pepper and earthy aromas are brightened by lemon zest and lime oil. The influence of port enhances the fruit and spices without pushing the barley and peat into the background. The result is a rich, lively and harmoniously composed Islay single malt Scotch whisky.

The distillery was founded in 1816 by George Montgomery. It is located on the island Islay in Port Charlotte. 1852 the distillery was taken over by Thomas Pattinson and got shut down in the same year. Although there were plans in 2008 to reopen the distillery by Bruichladdich, they were not realised. But since the same year Bruichladdich is bottling a heavy peated Single Malt called Octomore.
