The maturation of the 15.1 (the .1 is always the backbone of each series) took place in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks and recharred ex-bourbon casks with the aim of extracting the maximum flavours and character from the wood.
A true Octomore – expressive and full of character with an intense palette of flavours ranging from vanilla-sweet to intensely smoky.

Mango, banana, apricot jam with vanilla sauce and Toffee

Finish

Octomore-typical earthy peat smoke, vanilla, sweet-smoky wood notes with a mineral-maritime finish

The distillery was founded in 1816 by George Montgomery. It is located on the island Islay in Port Charlotte. 1852 the distillery was taken over by Thomas Pattinson and got shut down in the same year. Although there were plans in 2008 to reopen the distillery by Bruichladdich, they were not realised. But since the same year Bruichladdich is bottling a heavy peated Single Malt called Octomore.
