With Lochlea Cask Strength Batch 2, the farm distillery presents the second in a series of annual bottlings. Bottled straight from the cask, the result is an experience straight from the warehouse.

Batch 2 is also completely new for Lochlea: it consists of a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks as well as STR wine casks (casks in which the inner layer of wood has been thinly removed before being toasted and finally re-burnt on the surface). At 60% vol., this selection of casks excellently enhances the fruity, nutty and cereal flavours characteristic of Lochlea.

With Lochlea, the Scottish distillery landscape has recently grown to include an independent, family-run farm distillery. The former Laphroaig Distillery Manager and current Lochlea Production Director and Master Blender, John Campbell, is not the only one responsible for the unmistakable style of their single malt. One of only four distilleries in Scotland, Lochlea only uses their own barley, distilling and aging their whiskey on site. From the field to the bottle, the Lochlea Single Malt is traceable – true to the distillery’s motto, “Dare to be honest”.
